Two of the most popular extension methods we install at The Mane Studio are hand-tied wefts and K-Tips (keratin individual extensions). Both deliver natural, beautiful results, but they work differently and suit different hair types.
Hand-Tied Extensions
Hand-tied extensions use flat, flexible weft rows attached to your hair with tiny beads. They sit flush against your head and blend naturally with your own hair. This method is great for adding volume, length, or both, and works well for clients with medium to thick hair.
Best for: Clients who want soft volume and length with natural movement. Medium to thick hair types.
Maintenance: Move-up appointments every 6 to 8 weeks. Wefts are repositioned as your hair grows.
K-Tip (Keratin Individual) Extensions
K-Tips are individual strands bonded to your natural hair with a small keratin tip. Because they are placed one strand at a time, the result is incredibly seamless. This method is especially good for fine or thin hair because each bond is lightweight and flexible.
Best for: Fine or thin hair, clients who want an ultra-blendable look, or anyone who needs a lighter-weight option.
Maintenance: Bonds typically last 3 to 4 months before needing to be removed and reinstalled.
How We Help You Choose
You don't need to know the answer before your consultation. That's what it's for. We assess your hair type, density, texture, daily routine, and goals, then recommend the method that will give you the best result. Sometimes the answer is a combination of both.
At The Mane Studio in Prosper, TX, we install both methods and customize every application to the individual client. No two heads of hair are the same, and the install shouldn't be either. Learn more about our extension services.
